Apple has always kept their software and applications to themselves as to contain their competitive edge in selling their own products.  With the exception of Windows PCs, Apple has not allowed its applications downloaded by any third-party.

This is changing this year as Samsung announced that they have teamed up with Apple so their consumers can download their iTunes Samsung app on their TVs.  This is huge news for anyone owning a 2018 or 2019 Samsung TV as they will soon be able to play their iTunes movies and shows library directly on the television.  The Apple and Samsung agreement is exclusive, so this is sure to increase the sale of the companies already popular smart televisions.

All new 2019 Samsung TV models will come with the iTunes app installed, those who purchased a 2018 model will have to do a firmware update.

Apple has consistently stated that its major focus is on the privacy of its customers so Samsung’s ad tracking features will not be able to track the viewing usage when the consumer is using the iTunes application.

Some reports are also saying that this is coming out now because video streaming software Apple is developing. Apple’s iTunes has music streaming competition, but they are wanting to gain some of the Netflix or Hulu market share and is even suggesting that they are going to get into the original video programming that these companies have become so famous for over the past few years.

It is becoming clearer that Apple is thinking outside the box

and attempting to get into some of the technology realms that they have yet to penetrate.  This is sure to create a better viewing experience for consumers.  As with everything, competition brings exciting products and services.
