Amazon (AWS) is about to make its first acquisition of 2019 in the form of Israeli based cloud solution company, CloudEndure. The initial talk is of a deal in the realm of $200M-$250M.

CloudEndure is based in Ramat-Gan, Israel, was founded six years ago and has raised $20M in several rounds. CloudEndure founders are Ofer Gadish, Gil Shai, Ofir Erlich and Leonid Feinberg. Major investors are Magma VC, Dell Technologies Partners and Infosys.

The company’s tech allows for seamless transition of data from one cloud to another. This is useful in an environment where an organisation uses more than one cloud solution, which is a very common practice in today’s world.

Amazon, the largest cloud solution provider, believes it will gain an advantage over its competitors with the acquisition, since CloudEndures solution enables easy migration from one cloud to another. Amazon already has a strong foothold in the industry with 52% market reach compared to Microsoft’s 13%, Alibaba’s 5% and Google with 3%.

Amazon already enjoys revenue surpassing $27B a year, 11% of the company’s entire revenue stream, but this number is expected to rise considerably in 2019 and beyond.
